Finding peace

In a world where everyone chases love, happiness, security and acceptance, peace is a feeling that is often forgotten. Whether we have it or not, peace is an important part of our lives and plays a much bigger role than you may think.

Sure, peace is easy to find when everything is going great according to plan. But what about when things go wrong? When the unexpected happens? When your world is turned upside down? When life gets hard? Unfortunately, it is in these moments that peace is hardest to find, which just so happens to be when we need it MOST.

No matter the circumstance, when life is good or bad, it is important that we let God have control of it ALL. As humans, handing over the reigns isn’t always easy. We try so hard to hold onto things we cannot change, which ultimately gives us no chance at having peace.

Peace doesn’t mean every wrong is made right. It doesn’t mean you are suddenly in a place where there is no noise, trouble, hardships or struggle. It means while in the midst of all of those things, you ask and allow God to put a calmness in your heart. By doing this, it gives us power over our problems and helps us find happiness, thankfulness, contentment and peace in ALL seasons of life.

Everything doesn’t have to make sense and more times than not, it doesn’t. Some answers are revealed to us later in life, some answers we will never get. But one thing is for sure, God is GREATER! His plan for you and I is far bigger and much better than we could ever imagine!

So, take some time for yourself. Go somewhere quiet. Silence the distractions. Take a couple of deep breaths, put all of your trust in Him and ask for peace.

Do not fear tomorrow for He is already there.

Here’s a few of my favorite verses to reflect on when trying to find peace…

“He will be our peace.” -Micah 5:5

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.” -1 Corinthians 14:33

“A heart at peace gives life to the body.” -Proverbs 14:30

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” -John 14:27

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” -Deuteronomy 31:8

“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” -Proverbs 3:5-6

“The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.” -Exodus 14:14
